Twitter down? – 503 error or This page is not available

It has almost become second-nature to me to immediately go to Twitter to find out what is happening with a site when it has gone down.  But it appears that Twitter has been on and off for the last day. When not working, you see a message that says “HTTP Server Error 503 No available server to handle this request”, which basically means:

“The Web server (running the Web site) is currently unable to handle the HTTP request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server.”

So.. too many tweets or someone is working on it. Or too many tweets AND someone is working on it.

If you are lucky, you may even come across the other boring standard message:

Whiter the cute whale?

So what am I supposed to do now? TechCrunch provides a great list of suggestions to abide your time while waiting patiently for Twitter to return.

Hopefully, Twitter will update their blog soon to let us know what’s going on, because it is getting pretty annoying. I hope Rick Sanchez’s show isn’t ruined too much because of this.
